Emerald Hall, formerly known as Lauder’s Riding School, was built in 1873 to a design by George Browne and is historically, socially, and architecturally significant to Victoria. Initially serving as a riding school and gymnasium, it was later used as a bicycle riding school and a recreation hall. The original building’s design reflects its equestrian origins, with brick halls, a gabled roof, and a distinctive two-storey rendered facade featuring classical detailing and a pediment inscribed AD 1873.
Now home to Dance World Studios, it continues to nurture creativity and community, keeping its spirit alive as a vibrant hub for artistic expression through performing arts training, rehearsals, auditions, and movement. Its legacy endures as a true place of assembly, where passion and performance come to life.
