
This course is ideal for students seeking to increase their technical competency, whilst undertaking a wide variety of traditional and modern dance forms. With a focus on developing stronger foundations, completion of the course, enable students to tackle more complex work in dance and introduce them to allied performance units such as singing and acting.
In the first semester, students are exposed to the fundamental principles of jazz, classical ballet and allied dance forms. This is a time to consolidate applied technique, complemented by a range of academic and vocational subjects, including anatomy, physiology, drama, dance history and music.
In their second semester, the academic and practical classes continue with an increased emphasis on the refinement and development of more sophisticated technique. Individual artistry and performance ability are also encouraged by increasing the performance opportunities, including participation in interstate &/or overseas competitions & tours. Accordingly students are offered further insight into on-stage presentation and the development of individual artistic awareness.
